Age of Speech Sound Aquisition

2 years - 50% intelligible
3 years-75% intelligible

Do you accept insurance?

I will be able to accept Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBST) by December 2021. If you do not have BCBS, a superbill is able to be provided for you which will enable you to submit a claim to your insurance for an “out of network” provider independently.

How long are therapy sessions?

Therapy sessions can range anywhere from between 30 minutes to an hour based on the individual needs of the child and family.

Does my child need speech therapy?

General guidelines below:

Red flags

Birth-3 months- not smiling when you talk, no cooing sounds
4-6 months- no babbling, laughing, or looking in the direction of sounds
7-12 months- not responding to name, making only a few sounds, no gestures (ex.waving, pointing), not understanding common words
12-18 months- unable to follow or respond to simple directions, saying only a few words (ex. mama, dada, bye-bye)
18-24 months- not putting 2 words together, doesn't play with toys correctly (i.e. rolling cars, feeding a baby), doesn't imitate others or hand things in play
2-3 years- limited vocabulary, unable to follow 2 step directions, difficulty playing and talking with other children, uses words more than sentences, doesn't engage in pretend play
4-5 years- can't understand most of what is said in school, unable to tell a short story, struggles to find words when speaking, unable to answer "wh questions"
